At AB Texel Group, for almost a century we’ve been doing what we do best: completely taking care of logistics for agri and food companies. Our ambition is to be, and remain, the most respected transport partner in the agri and food chain. And how do we do that? By constantly striving to improve, working together with our clients.

To us transport is more than just the proverbial driving from A to B. Our staff are knowledgeable and committed, and they do their utmost for you. Efficiency, sustainability and innovation are our keywords, which is why we invest only in the best equipment, and make clever use of automation and the latest technology for optimising logistics processes.

We’re a down-to-earth company that has grown big by staying small, so to speak. What that means? Despite our size we’re a flat organisation, with a network of specialised companies that operate independently and collaborate with each other to provide the best possible service to our clients. We take a flexible approach that is customised with and for our client.

Almost 100 years of experience in transport in the food and agri chain

  • 1925

    • Aad Bakker starts a fodder business under the name A. Bakker & Son.
    • The fleet consists of one truck, a T Ford

  • 1971

    • The first bulk truck for Bakker Texel
    • This will be used for the fodder business

  • 1993

    • The fodder business is sold
    • AB Texel fully focuses on the transport activities

  • 1995

    • AB Texel GmbH founded
    • Our German company for bulk agricultural transport

  • 2004

    • AB Texel has a base in the UK, thanks to an acquisition
    • Using box trailers, AB Texel UK handles both the delivery of potatoes and the collection of chips and crisps

  • 2009

    • AB Texel begins to transport flour in addition to potatoes and feed

  • 2011

    • AB Texel becomes a division of Royal A-ware Food Group

  • 2011

    • AB Texel expands and establishes local companies in various countries for bulk agricultural transport

    • Expansion of feed transport in Germany

Almost 100 years of experience: The history of AB Texel Group

AB Texel Group’s history goes back to 1925, the year Aad Bakker started a fodder company: AB Texel was born. The fourth generation of the family business decided to switch things up, and began a transport company with two trucks.

Things have moved fast since then: we’re now a major player in agri-food logistics services, with 2,200 employees, a fleet of 1,300 trucks and 2,150 trailers, and 180 charters. But our ambition has never changed: the constant pursuit of improvement.

Our staff: Professional and committed

Our employees are at the heart of our business. It’s important to us that they enjoy their work, and that they feel committed to the company and our clients. Quality is our top priority. That’s why we invest in customised training via our own Academy, AB Move on. Each driver specialises in at least one specific area of transport – agricultural, feed, flour, liquid dairy and/or refrigerated food products – and they all have a background or special interest in agri or food. They also undergo training with our AB driving style coaches.

We maintain direct and contact with our staff via our own ‘AB Connect’ app. This keeps them up to date on all new developments. We’re also able to adapt quickly if, for example, something changes for a client.
